MONITOR DEAD, WILL LOAD A TAPE BUT WILL NOT PLAY,FF OR REW.
TAPE FUNCTIONS OTHER THAN LOAD & EJECT CAUSE SHUTDOWN.
NO RELAY CLICK AT POWER ON

CHECK FOR .8VDC AT BASE OF Q006,
IF LOW, GO TO EXCESSIVE CURRENT PROTECTION CIRCUIT
CONSISTING OF Q505,506 & 507.

REPLACED LEAKY Q505 (2SA564) SLIGHTLY LEAKY,
HOLDING DOWN DRIVE VOLTAGE TO Q006 (AT .7VDC)

DRIVE VOLTAGE MUST BE .8V OR HIGHER TO TURN ON RELAY

Scan of monitor section (includes Main Pwr supply) + VCR pwr supply .

Have done dozens of these. Have also seen several with bad storm damage
(taken out pwr supplies, fried relays, L/c hybrid ICs, etc)
have never totaled one. If symptoms match, above listed tip should
help. If more is needed "just holler" ( as we Indiana hicks say).

Replace C1005 ( 4.7 /200 ) and C1021 ( 1 /50 ).
That should get the supply working.
If you really want to make sure it works for a long
long long time, replace the other six electrolytics.
